“It is customary to blame secular science and anti-religious philosophy for the eclipse of religion in modern society. It would be more honest to blame religion for its own defeats. Religion declined not because it was refuted, but because it became irrelevant, dull, oppressive, insipid. When faith is completely replaced by creed, worship by discipline, love by habit; when the crisis of today is ignored because of the splendor of the past; when faith becomes an heirloom rather than a living fountain; when religion speaks only in the name of authority rather than with the voice of compassion–its message becomes meaningless.”

  1. I just watched Scientology and the Prison of Belief. Wow… Until now, I didn’t know much about it. I knew it had glitz and glam because I lived in southern California in the 80’s. I thought it was probably a cult. Everyone should watch this and see how easily followers can become betrayed when not trusting in the Lord, God. But, instead trusting in a man that is not of God (and a science fiction writer). All for the sake of “having a religion that is exciting and new that will lead them to eternal life”. What a farce.
